I've had this bookmarked for a long time. Haven't used lately, but from what I remember, it's supposed to be a guide for young people. It had my head spinning. A clear guide to the complex terminology of the field.

 

It’s quite a lot to take in isn’t it? I do like that you can go to a specific chapter rather than going through the whole thing looking for birds, lions etc.

you should have an idea whom you are searching; at least country and era. there is no use looking for Sicilian crests under the reign of Frederic II. - called "terror mundi" - when it's a family of no further importance of Oklahoma who ordered a made-up family crest online; which is today's equivalent of all those fantasy crests that were invented during the historicism era 1850 to 1900 for the well-to-do bourgeoisie in Europe.
