pot 1.jpg pot 2.jpg pot3.jpg pot 2.jpg pot3.jpg I recently purchased a beautiful chamber pot decorated with Birds of Paradise. The base stamp is difficult to read, but looks like B1 Made in England, but unfortunately I can not get a quality picture of this. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

One avenue to research is Dudson Pottery. The black and white checkerboard banding is called "Black Gordon", though Dudson examples commonly have 3 lines of checkering rather than 2. The technique is called "rouletted" as the piece was turned or spun around to apply the design. Not all of these wares were marked, though some have an impressed "Patent Mosaic" mark. I'm not saying this is Dudson, but they did a number of bird patterns, including a Bird of Paradise.
