Thoughts about these vintage cast iron candlesticks --Spain? Mexico?

Garage sale, got a few truly awesome things, including figural pottery piece by Hal Fromhold. Apparently the former owner's mother collected art, etc. and had unusual taste. Main estate sale was long gone (daughter kept saying "you would have loved the sale" ... I'm sure she was correct) and a few items at the sale were among the items they didn't get around to selling.

Daughter said these were on the mantle piece for years, she said remembers them from the 1960's at least.

21" high.

I hesitated because one of the sticks is a bit uneven when standing. A small felt cushion solves this, but still a bit of a hesitation.

I actually passed on them at $30, but then did a quick scan on my phone and found this:

Turned around and got them. Zero illusion mine are worth anything close -- but these on 1st Dibs seem to be quite similar to what I have.

My two are not exactly alike. One is a tad taller, A photo with flash even shows a slightly different decoration and color patina on the metal on the dish part. They are both quite heavy as you would expect from forged iron.

Thinking some of you may have thoughts. @Debora , among others: Do you think 1960's Spanish? Mexican?

Also how far off is this 1st Dibs listing? A factor of 10? Even more?

Those square studs on the feet look very Spanish to me. But no doubt they were also used in Mexico, southern France, and maybe elsewhere as well.
Nice to be clear on the origin for once.

 

I've got some very similar tall ones I use as garden ornaments, would you believe. Got them free. I suspect they came out of Spain at some point - not that long ago.

 

I'm sure they are still doing hand forged pieces nowadays. Do feel fairly certain these are vintage at least, the daughter grew up with these in the family home and was quite clear about it, 40 years on the mantle or something.

What about the $2,500 asking price on 1st dibs? OBB, maybe you better rescue the ones you have in the garden, lol. I know 1st Dibs is known for waaay over the top prices, but would I be crazy to sell these for, say $150?

Wondering if anyone else can come up with similar online. The only other set I found was the 1st dibs pair.

 

No, you wouldn't, imo.

 

They are wrought iron, btw, not cast iron.

Well, aren't those fun. I do think vintage. 1960s sure. Studs very Spanish. Onion-shaped cut-out not. And the incised design looks more North African. But those design elements don't rule out Spain which I think most likely. Also think 1st Dibs seller is smoking something.

Have you looked them over carefully for a makers mark?

Just took a second look, no maker's mark I could find.

They do have kind of a primitive feel, and they are heavier and sturdier than you would think. Almost like an andiron or something.
