What/where is this carved wood statue/figure; skinny body with big head from?

    I found this at a thrift store yesterday. I've seen something similar to this statue - usually with rope for hair + a surfboard and a Hawaii sign on it; same body type but with a different head/face.

    It measures 8" T x 4" W

    What is this and the Hawaii version suppose to represent - gods? just a comical carving?

    Where is this one from?

    Any information is appreciated - I bought it to sell it on eBay & knowing what I'm selling would definitely help ! (lol)
