I assume if this bridge exists it's somewhere in the USA. Do not ask why I bought this; every once in a while I grab a cool-looking picture I have no early use for. The artist signed it Amson in pencil and IA in the print itself. The title is really helpful - The Bridge. 1950s to early 60s would be my guess on the date, but the framing is a lot later.

That website is his authorized website and has works by him as recently as from 2011. I wonder whether he is still alive? (Born in 1918)

Never mind... Wikipedia says he died in 2011.

Of course, we still don't know which bridge it is.

The structure on the lower left appears to be the Brooklyn Bridge but the tower of the title bridge doesn't -- to my eye -- match that of another NYC bridge.

Not the George Washington Bridge either.

That was my problem too. It really wants to be the Brooklyn bridge but isn't. I don't think he was ever in Pittsburgh, but now that I know he's a New York artist and Jewish, I have a local home for this.

It's beautiful. It might be based on a bridge the artist knew, but I don't think it's meant to be a specific place. The middle tower is unsupported. I think, from an engineering point of view, that bridge would not stand. Artistic license.

It might be meant to look like what he remembered as a kid without being strictly accurate.

With that smokestack I'd call it close enough for government work. He may have been working from childhood memory, especially if the original was done while he was in Israel or something, and he may have just left a bridge piling or two out of the picture. The guy I'll be giving this to grew up in Queens.

The print went to its new home tonight. My friend is a Messianic Rabbi who was born in Queens. He loved it - and his brother in law took one look and IDed the bridge without needing to see the back.
