Good morning everyone! I have this lovely spatter decorated art glass vase that has no signature. Does anyone recognize the style? It's about 5" tall. The white splotch on the bottom, I assume, is paint. I tried to gently remove it with a knife edge and didn't even scratch the surface. So, I'm not sure what it is.

    Thank you!

    Juli

If it is paint on the bottom, maybe try heating it to soften it up?

I have no clue about the origin of the vase, but the colors make me think of the 1970s.

Seems like a mixt between Loetz iridescent lustre and venetian multi layers 50-60's glass, seems heavy, interesting search, it can be some studio glas in an art school too, for me 20-30 years old.
When you can scratch the "paint" with your nails and it resist at a good cleaning, let it in place…

Thanks all! I looked at Loetz iridescent and tried searching for "Venetian spatter" to see if I find anything similar. I really didn't. However, I did find this wonderful website with all kinds of glass types pictured and explained. Maybe it will help others here...

The Pallme-Konig rose bowl about half way down seems to be a similar technique with the larger "strings" (my term) of glass on the surface. I didn't see any explanation of that technique. Does anyone know what it is called?

I'm not worried about the white spot on the bottom. It doesn't appear to be covering up a signature or anything. So, I'll just leave it.

    Thanks for the help!

They make the filigree on the surface with a fine coloured glass dot glued when hot and after stretched to make a pattern, yours isn't german because it's too thick.
The effect with those black spots is made with a thin layer of glass stretched during the expansion or they put the hot glass on crushed coloured glass and after blast the form in my opinion.

Interesting! So, it would be called "filigree"?

    Thanks for the info.

Yes, for me it makes a pattern which is corresponding to filigree on glass, not only silver applied or used for internal pattern, this is some example here.
