Modern clay bird figure (signed) can hear something inside when you shake it -- rocks? seeds?

Not thinking much value here, just curious why this would have something inside when you shake it. Thoughts?

When it was molded the inside was not smooth and little pieces broke off. The smaller pieces came out of the hole. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks Greg. Could be it -- just seemed like something was deliberately put in there. Hard to explain.

Bit of an edit: I don't think I described it well. It sounds like uniform little beads inside.

 

It's a 'birdraca'.

It's probably a rattle, the potter would include little balls of clay coated or wrapped to prevent them sticking when fired - see them by local craftsmen here fairly often...

I also have a clay bird when hung it is upside down....and there is about 5 little round clay beads in it...
