OK, sheet music stand and a bookcase. Gotcha. You may have to wait a few decades...:)

Lovely sentiments and beautifully said, @ola402 . I hope you and @Pattywithay will post the results of your efforts for our edification!

Ghopper's is a cat-free home. He has more freedom in his display choices than some of us do. If I did not have my display cabinet, hundreds of small things good for batting around would have to live out of sight in boxes.

Of course, there is that. Not having any pets in my house, that never occurred to me. No offense intended, just a personal choice. All my stuff is now on a rather large bookcase and I am now trying to come up with ways to blend them into my other items, like in the photos.

    None at all taken.

I suppose the first step is to break up the books with an objet tastefully interspersed here & there. What sorts of things do you have?

Mostly, I collect Haviland, Limoges, and other pretty porcelain. I also have a small collection of EAPG Spooners and Celery Vases. And a small collection of glass animals. I also like Royal Dux animal figurines and have several of those. The entire collection of Gillinder EAPG Covered Compotes in all the sizes in the Lion pattern. Recently, I sold my Lion celery vase and kind of regret it now.

I have 2 large matching bookcases (very tall). One has mostly books on it and the other is all items that I've collected since taking an interest in antique/vintage/collectibles. My mom didn't keep anything that wasn't being used so I came late to it.

This prompted me to go check on my memory that a beautiful sugar bowl & creamer I have from a grandmother are Haviland. They are. Sadly, they live in the dishwasher, which I use for storage. An unmarked plate that has white poppies on a pale green background came from my other grandmother & has found a place in the display cabinet. It's a matter of the size of the footprint; the plate can sit on its edge.
