Brought home a box of old photos and books that were my grandmothers. Photos and books from early 1900's. This photo album was also there, no photos in it or any writing on it. Anybody have any info/thoughts on it?
    Thanks 20210701_020357.jpg 20210701_020407.jpg 20210701_020425.jpg

What are the dimensions? How many pictures did it hold?

Hello @Nightowl66 & welcome to the forum!!:happy:

This is just a SWAG but it appears to be a piece you could take when you are traveling or in the hospital so that you could have 4 of your favorite photos with you. I am assuming it would stand on end when it is opened.

What are the measurements of the piece & what are the measurements of the opening for the photos?

Bercrystal, I sure this piece has many pages in it as most of those Victorian albums did. I think it is lovely.

I thought it odd that it only had 2 sections but the way it is shown that is the way it appeared to be.

You did not say how large the openings are for the photos.

Maybe @Figtree3 will be able to help.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

From the pen next to it in the first picture,I can judge the size. I think this was for cabinet cards, so likely from the 1880s-1890s period. Could be slightly earlier. Too bad there are no photos in it! These albums were very attractive.

Yes, good size for cabinet card photos. That was the most popular photo format in the late 19th century.
