Would you share with us how you identified those initials as hers? And do you think it's a portrait of her? The mother?

I found reference to the owner and her mother on a family history site simply by googling her name which is very distinctive. See images. I really don’t know who the portrait depicts but I suppose it could be a self portrait or of a friend or sister?
