I got this in an auction a few years ago. Does anyone recognize this and have an approximate age on it? Where would you typically find a maker or any writing on a doll?
    Thanks for your help!

She looks like a little vintage costume doll. If I had to guess age, I'd think between the wars. Markings are often found on the back of the neck or on the back itself.

Deborah is correct. Markings can be found on the back of the head or the back of the body itself. But not all dolls are marked. Many of this type came with wrist labels.

    I'm thinking 60's.....give or take.

She appears to be made of hard plastic, with sleep eyes.

You might find a label on the clothes.

    Not of high value............perhaps $10.

Looking at your photo again, I see what appears to be "dots/bumps" on the doll's face?

It looks like some sort of bloom from the plastic deteriorating. Since this is an inherent chemical reaction, I hesitate to recommend a treatment. It wouldn't hurt to wipe it off with a mild detergent mix, dry well and store the doll in acid-free tissue, in a dry environment with a stable room temperature. I'd recommend frequent monitoring to see if it returns. I don't think the doll's market value justifies consulting a conservator, but that is an individual choice.

I would agree with you.......low market value.
