Featured Locket: Is it Webster? Is it old?

    So I found this one on ebay. It says it is Webster Company but no pics show that name--(maybe it's just a maker's mark I missed?)
    When I searched that company, I found many similar lockets for sale. Some said 1920s other 1940s. Some were up for $50-$80, others for over $100.

    If I buy it, I don't think I would sell it, but it's nice to know what I have.
    Any thoughts based on pics?

    Could be a different model. Look carefully were it says 'Sterling'. There should be a makers mark resembling a W.

    Of course, this one is in pretty rough condition. Not sure how much it affects the value, but I love the idea of owning something from the 1920s!
    We recently bought our home, built in 1932, and I love it:) Needs some work, but I've enjoyed it very much.

    Is that picture with a Webster W arrow mark from the item you are considering?

    You sort of have to go by the possibility that the pictures were put in position when the frame was new - at least that's my thought, others may vary.

    The boy's clothing - formal tie, plus 4 (pants), knee socks and good shoes - makes me think 1920s or maybe into the early 30s? The angular frame is Deco-ish which would also reflect the same rough time frame. We should wait for others to opine.

    Polish it up! Silver goes like that.

    If it's stamped 'sterling' it's sterling silver.

    Please do not use the tin foil method in above link, or any other home method. Silver polish will do nicely and not damage anything.

    Sounds good to me! Just remember when you are looking at comparable, go by the Sold price, not the asking price.
