This is another treasure? found at the auction over the past few weeks. The note on the bottom said something about it being resin but not much more.

It is 1 5/8" to the tips of the ears, 2" from his nose to the tail & is 1 3/4" across side to side. It only weighs 2 ounces.

The one photo shows something dark inside the piece. Hopefully, someone can help me out in a description as to what it might be. :D:D

I also hope someone can help me with the Asian? characters on the backside.

Could be old, could be new. I see stuff like this come out of China all the time. Some of it is old, most of it is new. All I can say for sure though is I dont recognize the pattern off the top of my head, so that good sign.

Maybe a symbolic good luck/good fortune feng shui ornament or token? You said :”something dark inside” did you mean something dark on the surface? There’s no hole that I can see, right?

The pic is a bit deceiving but it is translucent. Looks like resin to me with the air pops in the surface.

You'll laugh but I think the character says 'cat' (same in Chinese and Japanese), the character for pig is entirely different, so an error in translation/production perhaps.

Thank you all for the comments & information!!:happy: :kiss:

Yes definitely translucent & very lightweight.

The dark matter is actually inside the piece. It looks like a flake off of something.

The town that this man lived in has a yearly festival called the "Chittlin' Strut" & he probably had thousands of pig figurines as well as other pig-related items in his "collection". As we have seen if you have followed my posts about the auctions he also bought many Asian-type pieces so this little guy obviously fits the bill in both areas.:happy:
