This piece is 9 5/8" to the top of his pole & weighs 14 ounces all by itself.

Can anybody give me an idea where & when it might have been carved?:happy:

Yes, I am certain it is wood.:happy:

If you look at the first photo you can see where it looks like the wood split after being carved. I had not noticed it until I went over to pick him up again for another look.:rolleyes:

Now THIS ONE I can definitely is older! Idk if its antique, being the Chinese made a METEIC ****TON of this stuff in the 50s (and even today!), but I would feel comfortable saying it's at least that old from the style :).

So it’s an antique? Those little fish eyes are then also glass. I agree the base also looks a little odd.
I like the little details like the fish eyes and the fish on the ground makes for a more unique and ‘quality’ carving. I have never seen the fish eyes thing before. Nice weight.Very cool carving!

It is Chinese in style, you see a lot of these figures in resin, not so much in wood. I would expect it to be 1950-70 in period.

RANT - Why do sellers think that it is not important to show the bottom of pieces????????????:confused::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::p

In trying to research the information given above I encountered countless pieces where all aspects of the piece are shown except for the bottoms. :arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh:

It is not just eBay or Etsy sellers either. I encountered a couple of pieces that were listed by what appeared to be fairly high-end auction houses that did the same thing.:rolleyes::(

This of course is not the first time I have encountered this situation. It has happened numerous times with PP&G even with listing saying the piece was marked on the bottom. :arghh::arghh::wacky::wacky::confused:
