Not the same mark. May not be the same company either. This jug is not majolica. I would wait for other input.

I agree. I think the pattern or shape name is Etruria and there is another name beneath it ending in S

Bakersgma I'm just trying to help, not only David, but everyone here. I am not an expert. I posted this picture to show how different it is to an Etruscan
    mark.

I agree it is not the same mark.

If you would just have posted words with the image to explain, no one would have needed to post a rebuttal to make sure David (and everyone else) got your point. Posting a picture without saying what you intended to communicate doesn't do anyone any good.

It seems to say Etruscan England. The other mark is American.

    @Tahmoor girl
...now that this has been brought up, I wonder if you could perhaps, with your posts, explain that you're not an expert and you're Bing'ing, ie using search engines, and skimming posts, not reading deeply?
I find it REALLY off putting that you tend to present things as facts and/or with no context. Anyone can use google or bing.
I know you're trying to help.
However, new posters will not know that you yourself don't know and are only trying to help by using a search engine. I can't speak for everyone but in my case, when I ask for help I NEED help as I've got as far as I can on my own and of course, using a search engine is my first move.

So that’s the same mark. I don’t think it’s Wedgwood and I don’t thinks it’s jasperware (which is dry bodied). But we should be able crack it now.

The curved word is Etruscan, not Etruria. It's sprigged wares. It is NOT jasperware, that is unglazed. This is clearly glazed. It is also not majolica.

It might be Brownfield perhaps, not Wedgwood, there's not the quality. Those two on Ebay and Mercari are not Wedgwood either and they're not jasper.

I'd try the Sprigged Jugs group on Facebook.

    Oh, and well said Bou.

@Tahmoor girl : I can see that you are trying to help, and I appreciate it. More than one question has been answered on these boards by people contradicting something I wrote. Keep trying. Don't be discouraged if people say you're wrong. At least you got them to look at it more deeply and to get involved. And you'll end up knowing more than you did before.

  17. Aquitaine

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Here is the most I could pull out of that bottom by playing with Photoshop and inverting....it LOOKS like it says ETRUSCAN, and in the bottom curve it LOOKS like it says ENGLAND, but part of that's a good guess......with a '2' after the D.... and was able to enhance the 'symbol'?? off to the right.....

The above is Antique Wedgewood Jasperware. Yours could be someone trying to copy but still antique and collectable; or it could be an early experiment by Wedgewood that they sold instead of destroying.

It's missing a lid. I cant see the whole pattern and cant see the handle by I've been trying to match the pattern not the hallmark.
