Dining set identification help (from some lousy photos) – I don’t know the first thing about antiques…

Hello all, I’m in Austin and moving to Montana and have an antique dining set that was left to me via a divorce. It’s in storage, not being well taken care of and I’d like sell it (if it’s sellable).

It’s not completely uncovered (maybe tomorrow) but I took couple photos thinking someone might be able to identify it or the time period. I understand they are not stored optimally, but I wasn't a great place when this stuff was put away...

Any and all thoughts are welcome.

    Thanks for help, -Bill

Good luck with your move, Bill. What does the set consist of beside the 2? chairs?

Thanks - I believe there are 6 chairs (5 for sure). The table has 5 legs (4 standard, and one in the center). There are also a couple leaves. You can see the center leg in photo 3 and a bit of the table top in photo 2. Thanks, -Bill

I believe these would be called American Victorian pressed back chairs in oak. They are not particularly valuable - there's a set of 6 similar chairs on Austin Craigslist for $50. With a matching table, I'd probably start at $200 and be prepared to deal. I love Austin but moving to Montana sounds good to me, especially after a week of 98 degree days.

I didn't expect that anything left for me would be very valuable... lol! but I'd rather not drag them to Montana... I'll get them uncovered and put them on FB market place or something. Thank you for the input. -Bill

These were a hot commodity about 35 years ago; my hope is your ex paid a pretty penny for them.(LOL)

Circa 1900 for a date. Prices are way down but $200.00 seems a bit low for an upscale market like Austin. Checked on the 6 chairs for $50.00 and they are not as nice, nor have proper seats. Assuming you have 6 + table, all good condition, I would start closer to $400.00.

I'll defer to Brad's superior knowledge on this type of furniture. Austin is a relatively upscale market but when it comes to vintage furniture it seems like everyone is looking for bargains, and MCM or Boho styles. I see the OP listed them and they do look a lot nicer when not piled on top of each other.
