    Any suggestions on cleaning this basket? I purchased it as is......dusty and smelling of cigarette smoke. I don't want to damage it.

    For cleaning dust, you might try (gently) that compressed air-in-a-can they sell for cleaning computer key boards.

    Ah, that would explain the brighter colors on the bottom where it was protected, and somewhat duller surface elsewhere. For dusting it, I would try a very soft brush (like a makeup brush you can get at the grocery store). There is no easy solution for the tobacco smell and staining. Do not be tempted to try to wash it in any way.
