    11816-1.jpeg 11816-2.jpeg 11816-3.jpeg image.jpg Hi everyone,

I came across a vase that has markings that confuse me. It seems to say the following:
    "Great Ottoman
    Ming Dynastie 1453
    Handbemalt - Fine China
    Made in China"

Parts of the text are in German, Great Ottoman and 1453 point to Turkey, then there's mention of Ming and it's apparently made in China...

Can anyone make anything out of this? Why the mention of Great Ottoman and 1453 if the text is in German? For which market was this made? And can anyone date this?

    Thanks very much!

That is a weird one, not seen that before. The vase itself looks in the 1950's to 70's range.

Someone didn't know the proper German either.

Thank you all for your answers. I though it could be Iznik as well, Fid, but that doesn't explain the German texts and the made in China part.

Could this be a copy of a copy; a mid to late 20th century (thanks Ce BCA) Chinese copy of Iznik ware for the German market?

Maybe made in China for the German market.

It could be for the German market, but the design has nothing to do with the Iznik style, it's typical Chinese style, a real puzzle.

I think someone just looked up some interesting sounding terms and threw them all on the bottom thinking it would add something leaving us with this very odd and anomalous conundrum today.

was my guess as well. Berlin is the biggest Turkish city in Europe. many shops with "porselen" stuff, wedding dresses, overladen jewelry, food etc..

Handbemalt is German for "Hand-Painted" - or maybe I'm the only one who had to google it :)
