FYI - The name of the piece is "terrine." (I think. It's still early and dark here. ;))

Thank you, Cheryl. Brain was only working enough to tell me the OP's spelling wasn't quite right.

Me too, I just realized the spelling I used was the French rather than English.

Oh! I thought maybe it was French for tureen. :p

Believe the French would more likely call a tureen a 'soupière'...

That's the "terrine" that invaded my brain yesterday, Cheryl. "Sounds" the same, but a different item altogether. ;)

:) just pulling a bit your leg, meaning no evil.
terrine comes from terre (earth/mud) and the goodies took the name of the container which was terre cuite (cooked earth, who eats that ?).
Norway, fabulous country where I got stoned without drugs the first time in my life when looking at the Northern Lights.

Being a novice i hope its ok that i post some more pics here rather than starting new threads all the time. After all this has a catchy title :)

The case is i have inherited some stuff, and since my mother loved everything from IKEA to Meissen its hard for me to identify many items. Next one here.
