African art and signed

Just a very nice African art hand carved stone head and signed .

So who could help me to determine the stone used and the artist Peter Samuel 1977 ? Thanks

 

I would think this might be marble. These african bust head carvings are fairly common and there’s a ton of these on the market. Nice that it is vintage and signed. But only really worth good money if Peter Samuel turns out to be recognized or know sculptor.

 

Good point and any idea about the style from what country in Africa ?

 

Looks like depicting a Zulu man. I would firstly think from South Africa (or neighbouring country)

Yes,I would think so. Many examples on line.. But it will be very difficult to know for sure unless you can trace Mr Samuel..
