Brass Machined 3" Thread End Cap Unknown Purpose

    Howdy
    Classic found item weighs 12lbs.. Thought it might be part of a press or such.
    Someone suggested it could be for a flagpole[?].
    Any Ideas? 8+

    looks like a trapezoidal thread. could be a stop on a car lift or part of a big lathe.

    In the states, we call them an Acme thread. Usually associated with something very heavy. They are also used when something needs to move quickly with few revolutions. It has a large pitch which is the distance this part would move with 1 revolution or spin
