This scroll I found at a local thrift.
The bamboo is a very fine weave. Hand painted and signed (I think)
Chinese most likely. I was convinced to purchase it when i noticed the bugs lol. I hope someone can translate it for me.
It measures 52" long x 18 1/2" wide not including the wood.
Unfortunately the silk hanging cord is broken.

Value may depend on where you are.
I don't want to put your scroll down, it is pretty, but it is like the scrolls we used to get as New Year gifts from our local Chinese restaurant.:bag:

read as: "Craft in China" (a tourist gift, very good if you use as bamboo shutters)

    as below pattern :

    C__C
    r__ h
    a__ i
    f__ n
    t__ a

However, the good thing is: it was not produced in the late 20 years, at least has a little bit age.

PS: I like your dog. :D

I was wondering if you could humor me a little bit, I have been experimenting with optical translators. I have found that you get widely different results based on what part you are viewing. One of the results I got said "Care of Flowers" (part on the right) and the part on the left said "Entrusted". I was wondering, looking at the picture, if maybe the Praying Mantis is protecting the flowers from bugs. Just a coincidence? Does the Cicada have a specific meaning in Chinese Culture.:pompous:

I translated the lower left (words inside rectangular).
There're four words in the rectangular. On right side from top to bottom "中国" (China); on left side from top to bottom "工艺" (craft)

There's a story about mantis and cicada, however that is not related to this picture.
The story is about “The mantis catches the cicada, and the oriole bird is behind"
