    Hello

I have this lovely antique bracelet, please help me ID the country and age. Also, is it possible it is a marriage of two items? The clasp and the gold beads look to be quite different styles.

There's what looks like Arabic script around the edges, so I'll guess middle Eastern. The clasp insert is silver in colour, so maybe a replacement? I haven't cleaned or tested anything yet, wanted to check here first.

For reference the gold beads are 10mm, total weight 16.64 grams.

    Are the black pieces magnetic?

Yes they are! I would never have thought to check with a magnet.

The clasp and the two pieces to either side are magnetic.

Damascene work. Gold inlaid into steel. Syria maybe.

Very similar to jewelry made in Turkey.

I agree, it looks Turkish to me, known as 'Ottoman style'. They are still making Ottoman style jewellery, and often sell it as antique.

Here in the Netherlands the pages of antique jewellery listings are full of similar jewellery. Attractive, but all recently made. We have a large Turkish community.

Did you test the stones? They are likely to be zircons or even glass.

Probably gilt iron or steel, no inlay. Sometimes the gilding is actually brass.

The diamonds are definitely diamonds, can't say for the coloured stones.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I LOVE the LOOK of the bracelet, but I think the stones, be they diamonds or not, TO ME at least, look kind of like chips!!! Hoping I'm wrong as I said, it's a lovely looking bracelet!!! Maybe a clearer looking close-up could clear up some of our questions??

Yes, they are chips. Usually added to accentuate a central stone, not for the value.
