These are over 60 years old. Just trying to see if they have value.
The vase is solid sterling silver.

    Hi Dave and welcome!

Values depend on many factors but people can often help you find similar sold items. Can you give further information and photos including all possible makers marks, bases, sizes etc?

Welcome, Dave. We need more info - pictures of any and all marks to support your age estimate, solid silver statement, origin etc. That is not a vase = it's a wine carafe.

And you've said nothing about the figurine. Please help us to help you.

This looks pretty similar, but what's on the bottom of yours? What are the dimensions? etc...

    Info:

    Austria, around 1910
Johann Maresch (1821–1914) – Austrian ceramics artist

    Decorative Black Americana figure
    Hand-painted ceramics
    Dimensions: 14 x 9 x 13.5 cm (length x width x height)

This decorative Black Americana figure by Johann Maresch was made around 1910. The hand-painted ceramic shows a smoking Afro-American sitting on the floor. He is dressed in noble clothing with a cylinder and a neckchief in an Ascot knot. The Wild West was a respected theme in the 19th Century!

Not sure if it's because yours is dusty, and the pic isn't the greatest, but the quality of the paint job seems to be pretty flat on yours compared with the one I referenced. Maybe try for some natural light and more photos.

Claret jug screams high Victorian to me, very nice but very conventional, but they usually weren't solid but plated, or pewter, so solid silver would indeed be a bonus. If indeed silver, it would probably be assayed anyway.
The figurine would suggest itself to be painted gesso rather than biscuit, but I really don't know, there must be someone out there who's into this kind of thing.

The carafe does look like pewter to me. Can you show the hallmarks please?

Agree that it does appear to be pewter.

Figure identified I think. Its basically 6inch high by 6 inch long. I am including a pic of the base.
The carafe has no identification markings at all. Its 16inches high and 7 inches wide at its widest point. It is very heavy. I am including pics of it too.

From these last two pics, the jug looks more and more like overpolished "EPNS" to me. Nice, thick glass, though.

the carafe looks like a German "Schenkkanne" from the Historismus era.
the boy could be Maresch, but Eichwald made similar (very rare) and when they were in humid surroundings the colors lose their freshness.

The figure is definitely faded. Not nearly as shiny as the example that was posted. Almost looks intentionally painted flat colors.

My grandmother picked this stuff out. She was big into Victorian era stuff.

Welcome Dave! I love the look of your carafe/Victorian Ewer! Just out of curiosity, is the top part of the glass a more amber color or rose? It seems to look it in the image?? I'm thinking lower part might be picking up color from the table it's on.....

The color is uniform throughout. The top is darker here due to the chocolate sectional behind it.

I'm not seeing any silver. The carafe looks like white metal, and even if it has marks to the contrary I'd have it tested.
