Featured Quartz foo dog(lion) / Shishi sculpture - carving

I have a new pet lion - he's about 6 1/2 inches long(16 cm). About 99% sure this is pink/rose quartz. He's quite detailed which wasn't immediately apparent to me, but looking closer there are fine details on the face/tail/feet that are fairly finely done.

I'm assuming probably carved/made in China? Any opinions on age? He's clean now after a good wipe down, but there is some relatively heavy buildup of crud in some of the deeper crevices. Thanks again for looking!

Rose Quartz sounds good......but I can't say for sure....cuz someone is bound to show up saying " you can't tell from a picture"...or " quartz is a cahenceldony type of mineral found with comon gramer forluctions containing flouro micro crystelline striation metagobulationary formations..."
Or some such twaddle !!!!!!!!!!

Hovering a bit above freezing with rain the next couple days - then quite warm Sunday and Monday - we've had so much rain this year - the ground is so saturated that my tiny stream down the hill turns into a raging torrent with every rain bigger than a drizzle. It would have to be a biblical flood to reach my home so not worried about that. Your quartz description sounds legit.

 

I hope the warm up suits your style...... the clouds & rain can wear on ya at times....
Here it doesn't know whether to rain or snow...so it does both !!

 

Looks like it was carved by a cnc router and finished by hand, probably somewhat modern.

Aaron, that little Foo is just begging for a cuddle. Rose quartz and no great age, but great cuteness appeal.

He/she has the cutest tail. I like the way whoever carved it managed to get the
striations [okay, what are lines in quartz really called?] to follow the lie of the tail.

Nope, definitely a macrocrystalline quartz.

We had a Pekingese that looked a lot like this, just not in pink. A late night impulse purchase of my mother's. To be fair, Pekingese puppies are awfully cute.

The "lines" going the length of the tail were carved.
