I could use some help with this. It's a clear blown glass water pitcher with rough pontil decorated with "spikes." The spikes traverse one half of the bottom from midline to midline and there is one spike on the handle. 10" tall. Thanks

I thought perhaps this was a one off piece that someone made in his spare time or made by accident. What glass manufacturer would make this pitcher with the very high chance of breaking off those points either in transport or at the retail location? I just don't see something like this going into production. BWDIK? Maybe that's why no one recognizes it.

Right. It could very well be an end-of-day piece.

I tried finding one like it last night. No luck. I tried calling it severe hobnail, LOL. I didn't try spiked though, duh. :meh:
Have never seen anything like this!

End of day is an urban myth. ;)

There was much Victorian glass with these spiky feet. If you google on Stourbridge thorn vases, for example.

Thorn is the magic word! Yay Bear!

And now that you point out the obvious, yes, I have seen that spikey, thorny old art glass in the past, though nothing as wicked looking as this pitcher.:wideyed:
It is so plain and utilitarian with the exception of those thorns added.

There you go. I had these for a while. Cranberry glass also shows up with thorn feet.
