One seemed to be a repop. This one appears pretty old. Any idea what it is? Looks slightly like a bell either desk or door. Would be an odd item to emblazon but could be. The hole seems a bit small for a bell too.

Given the symbol is combined with a meander motif, I would think Asian, Chinese more than likely.

I would also go with Asia, China most likely. Not a 3rd Reich relic fortunately.

In the early 1900's the US used it as a good luck symbol on tokens.

that rivet must have fit into a slot, meaning the item attached to something else...

That’s so interesting! Didn’t even think of a bicycle bell. That explains the small hole I guess. A doorbell would have a much bigger one usually. Thanks for the awesome detective work!

That makes a lot of sense. I didn’t really know that pattern or motif was rooted in asia. Must be widely borrowed.

I knew the symbol has been widely used throughout history. Particularly in early 20th century America. I’ve had items with them in the past and seen many more. Finding it in a box with another very clearly Nazi item my mind just immediately went there without giving a lot of thought to another origin. Turns out I should have been more open minded. I guess the owner thought German or the auction runner just grouped the two together. Thanks for posting some cool examples. I’ve been acquiring a bunch of tokens lately and I’ll probably keep the ones I like and have a little collection of them.
