Chinese/Japanese pot

    I have a pot in my possession with writing on the bottom. Can anyone decipher it for me?


    For all I know it may say MADE IN HONG KONG

    You need to turn the image 90 degrees to the left to display it properly.

    Can you also post a picture of the whole pot?

    Having just scrolled through both the Chinese and Japanese marks sections on Gotheborg, I'm thinking your pot is way more likely to be Japanese than Chinese.

    no i don't see the mark say made in hongkong,it wrote an unsual chinese name,let me track down of it

    hey i found a info,that actually that was japanese mark i think,since the style is kutani ware style so i think,this make sense,this called in japanese " San Sin Tei Sisi Seisu",this one same with your mark,i'll keep updating the information later

    This piece has so little wear on the bottom. I sincerely doubt it is anything like as old as that reference refers to.

    yes have same thought,it seems like the marks already made in 19th century but maybe still making the pottery until late 20th century,just my guess

    I have no problem with this dating to the mid to late 19th c, the style and everything fit perfectly into that period.

    The pot is definitely old. It belonged to my wifes grandmother who worked as a housekeeper for a sea captain c1910 and was given to her by him. It has been handed down to my father in law and then to my wife
