Barium studio pottery bowl

    Hi folks

    Haven't been on the search much recently but found a couple of things in our local charity shop

    This has a barium blue colour side, and strange inner glaze, crackle glass ?

    Mark looks to be AE ?

    Can't find any alike

    any thoughts appreciated

    I don't see a crackle glass glaze, but rather a crystalline one.
    Is a very pretty piece of studio pottery, I don't know of the potter.

    I thought it looked a nice piece as well, it's not a conventional crystalline glaze, but does have a crystally look to it

    Agreed, it looks like studio concocted glaze, rather than commercially mixed glaze.
    It's quite beautiful too!

    Well it's the first for me too. Obviously none of us here have ever heard of barium blue glaze on pottery. Barium / lithium blue. I will have to look that up.

    Chemical reaction on firing.

    I bet that blue bowl is Greek Islands.

    The glaze on this tall blue vase appears to be a fired glass with the tiny bumps that expand in the heat of the kiln. The crystalline glaze is different and not a flat mat color effect
