What would you call this jar? Time Period?

I have this jar with a wire embedded into its neck so that it can be hinged upward. It seems likely that the wire was intended for breaking the vacuum seal.
Does anyone have a name for these jars and when they were made? (The embossed circle in the glass says "2 lb size". This jar was made in Canada. I have a second jar with the same wire (last picture) but it doesn't have its original lid.
Is there a collector market for this sort of thing?

That reference has a couple of lines that refer to a Canadian bottle but no pictures or additional information. The lengthy paragraphs are all about the leather industry and Montreal.

Does the wire secure the lid? Some kind of preserve jar? There are sites that deal with those specifically. Might be worth seeking those out.

Might be honey, peanut butter, syrup?

In the down position, the wire is under the edge of the lid and does not hold it on. I'm assuming that it was vacuum sealed with the rubber ring on the inside of the lid.

You're probably correct about vacuum sealed. It does seem that once the lid was popped, it wouldn't provide a very tight seal afterwards. Does that suggest that it held something that didn't suffer for being in a more or less open container?
