Mar Meditteraneo leather map

Hello merry Christmas to everyone by the way. I don't believe this map is old. Maybe 70s? It's leather and I can't think of the correct term on this making process but I believe its burned on to the leather with some sort of press. I couldn't find another example so was wondering what the correct term for this is called? Thank you for any info!

 

I'd think that was a little souvenir from Mallorca. 1970s could be right. Here's another, mounted on wood, from a Spanish auction web site. And another, described as a "souvenir," from eBay Spain.

I believe the word you are looking for is: tooled/tooling

You can google "tooled leather map"

 

Repujado in Spanish. Here's one of Gran Canaria. It's been dated 1971-72 although not clear what the date refers to.

Tooling refers to stamping, or carving leather. Burning is a separate process, also known as pyrography (more familiar with wood as the substrate).
