I can't find a plain one, but here is an advertising one from the 1940s - there was a ball chain that goes through the lid and case to keep them together as well as to attach to the key chain - the insurance card in this one expired in 1948 MVC-256S.JPG MVC-257S.JPG

Mansons - Better you than me dude; I've had surgery a few times and all morphine and its buddies ever did was give me unwanted side effects. You get my share.

I get what they term cumulative side effects. I take 30mg immediate release 4 times daily and 60 mg slow 2 times daily (along with 14 other drugs). I'm fine for a few weeks, and suddenly the accumulation will start giving me some weird side effects.........and I mean weird..............so I have to stop and go strictly cannabis for a few days. Yeah, THAT straightens me out..............

If you get straightened out on weed, the pills must indeed be a long strange trip!

I take the weed regularly (in addition to the morphine) to alleviate some symptoms, but use it as a primary pain killer when I break from the morphine. I take a slew of other "pain killers", such as gabapentin and methocarbamol, but they are targeted. Even the morphine doesn't totally alleviate the pain I get from the tumors pressing on the vena cava and my remaining kidney. They are giving the morphine another year - by then I will probably hit the limit of dosage that allows me to function, and then I will start to build an immunity to it................at that point there is little they will be able to do aside from the cannabis.

They'll have to move you to Britain, get you onto the National Health, and let you use Heroin. They still do that for some folks. Gabapentin is another one of those drugs I can't take and function at the same time. Nasty stuff. I looked up the Metho stuff, and it's more or less Mucinex as cooked by a meth lab. I'd rather fill the brass tube with Tic Tacs since Jelly Babies wouldn't fit and would probably get stuck if they did.

If you can't take gabapentin, you could try gaba, the stuff gabapentin is based on. It tends to works more gently than gabapentin. It got me off 20 epileptic seizures a day.

I've been taking gabapentin for years - for restless leg syndrome - a condition that got so bad on occasion that I had to get off of more than one plane during a stopover rather than continue on to my destination............it still flairs up on occasion and I am (and have been for years) part of a study trying to determine what causes the flair ups after relatively extended periods of remission.

I have been the subject of soooooooo many medical studies that when I first started seeing my current oncologist she already "knew" of me from medical journals!

Not a distinction I was striving for, but better than being known for kicking kittens...........;);)

As for heroin - I suppose I am old enough to admit that I have ridden the white horse a few times recreationaly (try everything once - or twice - or thrice - is my motto) - and have absolutely no desire to use it again. I'm sorta, kinda depending on the fact that by the time the morphine and pot cocktails no longer have an effect, I'll be so old that release from the pain will come "naturally"............

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I do take gabapentin prophylactically for migraines.....can't say it's done much except make me want to sleep!! So I cut it way back.....and am at least awake now, but the RLS has increased.....tolerable but it's there.....

They had me on it for MS symptoms for a while. It wasn't bad unless I wanted to get out of bed and think straight. Also it didn't do much. Kind of like everything else they've thrown at it, except the steroids my current doc says never did any good anyway. They at least made me feel better.

If it is not too bad, you could try OPC, that usually works for milder cases.

Maybe we should start a medical thread;).
