What is this amber-looking ring?

The ring is not marked, tests silver. I thought the stone might be amber, but no glow at all under uv light, and a search for amber dome ring did not bring up any with lines in it like this. With those lines I thought a natural material, or something trying to look like a natural material. Thanks for any thoughts.

Love the ring.:) Does the stone feel cold or warm(ish)?
Not all amber fluoresces, and sometimes it is difficult to identify fluorescence. I remember a recent thread by Dory, where she didn't know that what she saw in UV light was actually how egg yolk amber fluoresces.

The cabochon looks like half an antique Moroccan "copal amber" bead. The setting is Western style, and probably made in the West, either Europe or North America.
"Copal amber" is confusing, I suspect those beads are actually a type of copal, so a pre-amber stage of resin fossilisation.
Although copal is often transparent, certain types can be translucent or opaque.
Many old Moroccan beads have cracks and crazing from long exposure to sun and heat. That can happen more easily in copal than in amber.
So I would call it copal, to be on the safe side.

Antique Moroccan "copal amber" bead necklace:

Thank you everyone, appreciate all the leads and info. I have been doing searches with those terms and have yet to see an opaque piece with cracks like my ring.

It is neither cold or warm, but more cool than warm, warms up quickly when held. It taps against the teeth with a clean click, if that makes sense. In hand it seems like a natural material, not plastic, but I could be wrong. I'll do some more searching and let you know if I find anything else similar.

I worked for an African importer when I was a kid so I knew it was copal but as AJ said your setting is unusually nice for those half copal rings. The Moroccan ones are usually much rougher.
