    Hi,
I wonder if anyone can recognise the lady in the frame.
I don’t know if it’s painted or printed as it has a glass on top, any opinions? the frame is silver 800, gold plated probably as it is gold colour.
I looked at the back, there is an panel that covers the back of the portrait, any idea how old is this brooch?
My first of this kind, loving it .
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Simona

1960s I'd think. This and similar portraits found on jewelry are usually copies of period portraits, oftentimes a riff on Marie Antoinette.

In my experience these are prints of paintings of ladies who were famous beauties of their day, punched up with hand applied details in white to make them pop more like a genuine painted portrait miniature. I'm with Debora on the age of the brooch.

Thought it might be Gainsborough; so many of them are.

Hinge looks a bit earlier than the 60s.

These were a hot item in the 50s, and I'd suspect in the late 30s/early 40s too right before the War cut off costume jewelry making.

She has a tan, unheard of in 18th century society. She will never find a husband looking like this, and will end her days in a convent.:arghh:
