this old hinged jar. Is it 18th cent. Gardner?

    That "hinge" looks so out of place (and crooked). Was that added or normal?

    I think you make a good pt. it looks out of date, if the mark is 18th cent. I need to get some better pics of this.

    The mark looks like a Meissen Marcolini mark, but the decoration is maybe a bit too sloppy. I guess a Meissen blank decorated by someone else?

    Samson did a lot of Meissen copies.

    I'm not sure the quality of the decoration is even up to Samson standards. The hinge looks like it was added after the decoration was applied. I'm in agreement with Mat that it may be a Meissen blank. I would guess that at some point another company (maybe in the Meissen area) acquired it and decorated it and then a third company added the mounts. For some reason it's giving me a Bohemian vibe.
