Help with 1891 Planter?

    Hi I was wondering if anyone could help with this Planter? I'm not even sure if it is a Planter? It's made of brass I believe. A magnet didn't stick to it at least. Dated on the back May 1891. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    It's pretty big. 11 inches long, 10 inches across, and a 4 inches wide. Would that be too big for a match holder? Thanks.
