Silver Necklaces

Seeing a sudden influx of these type necklaces at shops. Was this a thing in the 90s or 80s?

Are they anything of worth selling? The smaller beaded one on the left is much heavier than the one on the right.

Are they silver plate? Could not find any marks on either. Wonder what they are made of... Also, do the clasps indicate a particular era? TIA.

Me too, unless I wanted to wear them. Clasps are pretty recent.

 

If the one on the left has a silver clasp, I'd buy it and scrap it. Keeping the clasp for another use of course. Sterling clasps are worth more than they're charging for the whole necklace. If not sterling, no sale. The one on the right? Pure costume, and low grade at that. Unless you're going to wear it, don't buy it.

 

Interesting. Like how much are you seeing for a sterling clasp?

 

I believe the beaded rondels on viewer left are Asian.

 

The last time I looked at retail, and it's been years, the clasps were $10 each in Joann, and they do sell in bulk on eBay for decent prices. I don't resell them; I reuse them.

The one on the right was definitely big in the 1980’s. Somewhere I think I have a gold filled “s” chain AKA serpentine chain necklace with a single tiny Pearl.
