Something new I can't quite figure out. I guess it could perhaps have been a lid or a box mount originally, now set on a small block of wood - it's 8cm across. Quite heavy for the size so the porcelain is probably solid (it is in a cushion shape).

The surround tests as silver (probably 84 zl). It is also marked in Cyrillic which I can't seem to work out. Any help on the location or the script most appreciated.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Hi -- I think it is probably Russian but also might be Ukrainian or some other eastern European language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet.

I can usually make out Russian words but notice a letter or two are too blurry for me to make out on my phone. I'll try on the computer later this morning. Maybe a native speaker will drop by before then to help!

Thanks, I can usually work these out, but had no joy with this one. Google kept suggesting Serbian, but I couldn't make that fit either. Doesn't really look like the Church of the Crosses, nor Mostar I don't think.

The longer I try to figure this out, the less certain I am of some of the letters. The ones I am sure of are и_ _К _тк_(and another letter after that?). It does appear that the first K is larger than the other letters. There may be two words, or perhaps it's just a feature of the way the person who wrote the word printed. Originally I thought that I was fairly sure of these as most of the letters: испК_тка but couldn't make anything out of that.

This may be a word for the location or for the building. It seems less likely to be the name of the artist, but might be.

Many thanks for trying, it is close to what I got, and I also couldn't get anywhere with it. Agree it is quite likely a location, may of course be shortened as well making it harder to work out.

Maybe somebody will recognize the building or be able to interpret the writing. Fingers crossed!

For anyone still following I managed to get some help on this, and it looks like it is probably Исл катков - in the context probably initials followed by a surname. Google wants to translate it as Ice Skating Rink lol, I don't think that can be right for this.

Edit to add; beginning to think it may be Macedonian, architecture looks right and the name fits as well. May be one of those unsolved mysteries.

Thanks for the update. I hope you figure out what it says and where the location was.

Macedonian Ice Skating Rink it is.:smug:
Macedonian towers are usually more squat, although there could be exceptions of course.

Lol :hilarious: , it is ice skating rink in Russian (according to Google, so no guarantee). In Macedonian it is apparently Isl Katkov which can supposedly be a name. I did find some Macedonian churches which look a bit more like the pic compared to the Russian.

Nice find, certainly could be a different aspect, I do note the difference is there seem to be no crosses on the minarets on this example. Silver border is similar, where did you find this and what is it/is it from?

I was looking for something else and by accident i came across this site
    https://rostov.bezformata.com/listnews/peyzazh-v-rostovskoy-finifti-traditcii/94975756/

When i googled further i saw old paintings of rostov kremlin museum and in some paintings part of the building looks like yours. If you search you will se the rostov does have crosses

Many thanks, that seems to have cracked it. A Rostov enamel of the Rostov museum, so probably vintage and from a box (a lid originally). So the mark pretty much has to be the artist as it can't be the subject. Crosses are present in some other examples of this building.
