Any insights on S.H. Lee paintings?

We new at going to estate sells and have zero experience in art. This piece really inspired us and we bought it. Researching the signed S. Lee and the autobiography of S.H. Lee on the back online shows he known for smaller, interior types of work. This still floral and fruit is roughly 29"x38". We have not been able to find and references regarding this piece online.
We are wondering if this has any value and should we have it appraised? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hi- yes, I did visit those websites. They don't show prices, unless you are subscribed to their services (which currently I'm not).

 

Ben, it's properly called a still life and yours is based on the type of secular Baroque paintings that were commissioned by the Dutch bourgeoise. Designed to show off the artist's technique with lots of surfaces and reflections. Typically, they include moths and other insects which have symbolic meaning but, of what, no one is quite in agreement. Perhaps the transitory nature of life. The arrangements themselves are fantasies as not all the flowers found in these still lifes can be found in bloom at the same time. As there is no information to be found on the internet about a Chinese artist named S.H. Lee (except a few auction records,) I suspect he is an invention and yours is not fine art but rather a decorative painting created to enhance a decor. It would be valued accordingly. Here's a genuine period painting from The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for comparison.

Welcome to Antiquers, @BenQ . Have you seen this article from 2010? It's about a gallery show of Mr. Lee's work. There are some photos but I don't see any ID of who is in the photos and don't know whether any of the photos are of the artist. He is probably the man in the red jacket.

Thank you for welcome! I did see this article before posting. I haven't decided to have the painting appraised. It's not because we went to flip it. It would be for insurance purposes.
