20220320_140741.jpg 20220320_140741.jpg I have been gifted what I assume is a print by George augustus holmes .
It has been in the family for over 100 years, my problem is I am unable to find any information on the original or even any pictures of this particular painting.

    Any information would be greatly
    Appreciate.

Yes, he is a bit of a mystery for having painted many pictures of this type. My google searches found nothing for this image.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

So, what I'm seeing in the lower right corner is what appears to be a VERY UNCLEAR signature of some sort.....I'm thinking it's what you also see....there's also another bit of what looks like a signature in the bottom LEFT corner looking like it might just say G A Holmes.....I haven't enlarged it yet....maybe don't need to? Could be a date there too?? And WELCOME to ANTIQUERS.COM, @Shooie!!

I think a chromolithograph. Sounds like some of the images from his paintings got pirated due to weak copyright laws. It would look nice on the wall of an old house.

    Hi Aquitaine,
I have a a good look and the words The Australasian are in a bluish ink on the right hand bottom.
The initial on the lower left seems to be in black.
I can't make out the first letter but definitely A.Homes.
None of this seems to match!
    Grateful for your input.

    Yes lithographer
Nothing seems to match, I did have closer look and with my novice eyes was thinking maybe German style chromolithagraph?

It would have been nice to know where she originated from but she has been in our family for such a long time I'm happy to have her in our home now.
She fit's in quite well in our Art Deco home.
