thinking its more of a fantasy piece now, with no real history, the 85 is actually a BS british standard mark, copper piping:hilarious:

think it might be more like a smaller walking stick now as well

    still looks pretty cool though,

IIRC swagger sticks didn't have the metal caps on the end - no need. Walking sticks did unless they fell off. It took me a while to remember, because Americans don't see many swagger sticks.

Thanks for the additional photos.Good to know about the piping.Personally I wouldn’t call this a ‘fantasy piece’ It obviously “homemade or custom made” but it looks to be well made, has lots of character and also has some age to it.. I really like it,very cool find!

Interesting find. The looks say it is silver. Can you take higher quality photographs? Does the top screw off? Would be helpful to see the reverse side. I am personally of the mindset it is a commemorative medal. Possibly custom or made for an exhibition.

Can't be older than the 1980's when the commemorative medal was cast, right? The only authentic swagger stick I have is significantly thinner at the top where it joins its silver knob than this one looks to be (mine is 7/16" (1cm) in diameter at the top), and is just about 28" (70 cm) in overall length. Mine is also made of rattan, which is apparently typical. So maybe this one is actually a cut down wood walking stick, with copper pipe fitting and commemorative medal added to the top?
