I'm trying to help an acquaintance ID this lantern. These are the best pics I have.

I think it's Hindu or Buddhist themed, not Middle Eastern/Islamic.

I would appreciate help analyzing the art style and all of these chimeric gods / deities.

And I wonder whether the metal is brass or bronze? Cast metal or hand worked?

The slab thing on the bottom of the lantern is something he used to replace the base which is missing. He burned candles inside of it. So ignore that, LOL.
EDIT: the jewels are faceted glass.

A man with wings and a dog or jackal's head on a human body. Some kind of a goat like creature at the far right.

Lower left: Human figure wearing a turban and robes with an animal head near the knee. Top and center: Robed human figure wearing a turban holding something in hand. Lower right: serpent or dragon.

Lower left: bird with long beak. Center: robed man with Fez type hat. Lower right: bust of robed man also Fez type hat.

This is a repeat of the elephant man picture at a slightly different angle.

 

the elephant might be a variation of Ganesh.
