I haven’t even managed to find the shape of the glasses on the internet, so I an after a few search terms that I can use.

Earlier this week I bought these five coloured glasses for a pittance, and on examining them found several anomalies that make me think I might have got a bargain. I’m hoping that you will help me understand what I found.

The volume of the bowl is 100ml allowing for a small space at the top. Total height 12.5cm; lip diameter 5.5cm; foot diameter between 49.0 and 51.0cm, with one outlier of 47.6cm.

The foot is clear glass, the rest is coloured, with the engraving to clear glass. The pattern is stylised bunches of grapes and leaves (I think). The front of the glass has two bunches, the rear only one, as can seen on the photographs, and the pattern is created by freewill not pre-ordained, as there are variations between glasses. The ball stems are marginally different shapes on each glass. Couldn’t find a makers mark anywhere. The joint between foot and stem is different on each glass, see photograph(s). The colour hues of the both pairs are marginally different from each other.

The pontil marks, I use that term loosely, are all a smooth finish. All five are different; one protrudes and is like a teat, one is almost, and the other have a small protrusions. The photograph with two feet shown illustrates a thread of glass has been dragged across it. In all cases there is a ring around them marked around them.

I thought the shape was tulip, but hunting the Internet I could not find a similar profile anywhere.

So in addition to ‘search terms’ could I have your views on modern or old, craftsman blown or bodger made, valuable or a wasted of my pittance? Would they have been made in Hungary or Czechoslovakia, or elsewhere?

Look forward to your views. Thanks.

The fact that they're a harlequin set, the colour and the engraving all say Bohemia to me.

You don't have to do that unless you wanted to. On the main page in the search bar is a camera icon click on that and you can upload the picture in the correct search category. Good luck

I bought a similar set for my Mom at a hardware store in NH USA in the 1960s
