It’s handpainted and pealing. Can it be 60’s or so? I know it’s not a very intriguing antique item but I find it interesting (but still my apologies if someone feels this is a waste of time) Stands 7,5cm tall and 16cm long.Thank you for any comments and keep well.

Not a waste of time but difficult to judge the age from photos, is there “ honest ware” on the bottom of the feet? If so, you at least know it’s been around a while.
    I really like it.

Never a waste of anyone's time mate, things can be charming as well as worth a whole bunch !

I get the feeling it's been overpainted with the pink and white

    Charming thing though !

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

He IS really, really NEAT and I too think very well done!! My question is how can you tell he’s made of wood? Is there some showing through somewhere? How heavy/light is he?

It looks molded because there is a lengthwise seam all the way across the top of the body, including the snout and all the way across the belly.

I would think it was painted cast iron if you hadn't told us it is wood. How heavy is it? Does a magnet stick to it?

Thanks for the reply. Glad you like it too. Not very heavy,I come to the conclusion (my best guess)that it’s some kind of light wood after looking at the areas that pealed under a magnifying glass. Just didn’t look like a plastic of kind.

Good point about the mold line, was considering it’s two halves stuck together. No not iron (but I can understand why you could think that from the photos) Thank you for commenting.

Great. Thanks for finding this. That the looks to be the exact one. Interesting that’s is hollow. Really thought it was some kind of lightweight wood. Maybe a wood composite? Looked at it again now,it looks like the material has some very ‘natural’ fine fibre (little weird and confusing). Anyway must be some kind of composite material either way. Thanks again for the help.. It’s a interesting little thing.

Very interesting. I looked at some other Syroco items and I think you may be right. I would have never thought of wood pulp. Thanks for the great information and comment.
