Featured Ring, silver, gold. Tell me what it is.

It was a ring. Broken rear rim. Silver. The front plate is gold. There is a stone marcasite. Tell me what the man on the front plate can mean.

I was thinking more Central American-ish from the headdress. (and the hand shaped like a fork!)

 

I've some mixed silver and gold similar pieces with Greek motifs on, such as the Acropolis, so that's where my head was going.

 

Sorry, no brilliant insight here. My immediate reaction was also Meso-American for the figure, really doesn't quite look Greek or Egyptian to me, but don't think the ring was constructed in any of those places.

 

This ring was found in England. Maybe it's related to Rome?

I have to admit, quite a lot is 'lost in translation'.

 

That's the one! And yes, I did indeed see it. From memory, it was over restored in the thirties, I think.

I'll see if I can find the photos of my own bits. Souvenirs, I reckon.

 

A lot was based on ideas of Minoan art, rather than restored, if I remember correctly. Beautiful nonetheless.

Similar jewelry with sterling, marcasite and 9k gold I've seen online described as Art Deco/ Edwardian..
