Featured Age of old evening bag

In shocking condition but who can resist “Everything is free, please take it away”
Any ideas on age please? The celluloid ? catch is nice and works well as does the frame although the lining is shot to pieces. Only a part label which may or may not have anything to do with the bag.
mots about 20cm deep so a nice size.

The lining is "shattered." As to your bag, I don't think it was designed for evening and, at a glance, it appears to be 1930s with an Art Deco celluloid clasp. Rayon grosgrain, now what they call "rusty." Wasn't an expensive thing in its time. Let's see what others think.

Oh, and strap length helps determine size so always important to photograph/provide measurements.

I think it may be a bit earlier. 1910s or 20s.

The label is part of a prefranked OHMS type envelope. Woiuld have said Official Correspondence.

 

Thanks Debora. The strap is 37cm long so quite short and the bag is 20cm deep.

 

I think I should start to weave some sort of Bond esque secret service story about this bag……..

I thought it was upholstered in tribble pelts!

Lol, worth a fortune if it was!.
I’d think about replacing the lining but it’s a lot of work for probably not much gain.
