Bronze bottle holder?

    I'm probably overthinking this one. I'm guessing the characters are Bacchus and satyrs having a party, which makes a wine bottle holder the most likely possibility. But, the top and bottom are both open and have a "lip". Like there should be a lid on the top, but that doesn't explain the open bottom. Could it have had a liner inside that's now missing?     Looks like whatever was in there got broken. Pretty sweet piece of casting.
