Butter Kife

    This set of 12 butter Knives are 6 inch Long
    It is marked "STEGOR".
    I tested it with 18K acid and it appeared to be silver.I attached a picture of the test results.Did Gorham produce Sterling Silver in this patter and not mark it sterling ??
    From the test results it appears to be sterling or a very heavy plate.I rubbed the knife very hard against the stone. a1.jpg A5.jpg
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Look at the obvious plate loss

    No point to the stone

    Your acid will not dissolve nickel or chrome

    That dark band on the handle suggests someone used a rubberband to hold a group of pieces together. :(
