    Hi all,

can anyone tell me what they think this is please? It was purchased used in a market in london in roughly 1978. I’d be interested to know what people think it is please. Turkish? Could it be a pillow case. Roughly 18 in x 28 in.

    Thanks! BFC3A250-77EB-45BD-A454-BC47BD90EED0.jpeg E26FC538-8B83-43BF-AE9B-C4AE4A0DABC5.jpeg C3D55B78-2E32-4D46-85BF-D5FC369CDFF7.jpeg

Might be Kazak - try googling CAUCASIAN rugs.

It could be a cushion cover, or "tent bag", also called a "torba" (a Turkish word for such items). Many such textiles came out of Afghanistan during their war with Russia (1979-1989). The bright colors and large designs are similar to other Afghan rugs I have seen from that period.
