Featured Little French (?) glass ink well - how to date?

Hello just a little cute glass bottle with a stopper picked up for 50c. I thought it was an ink well so just assumed it would be old-ish but now I'm not so sure. It has a super flat base, and lines from a mould, and the glass is much thinner amd less bubbly than I've seen with older bottles I've had.

I can't find any images on a reverse search (due to the shape it comes up with glass insulators)

Would love to hear if anyone has seen one of these before, knows how to describe this shape, and also any tips for getting an approximate date on glass to when it's unmarked like this.

    Thanks for any advice 20220704_131109.jpg

Just a PS that I thought it might be 1970s stylistically....but then, why woukd one require an ink well? :bored::smuggrin:

I'm no inkwell expert, just trying to educate myself... don't inkwells typically have a hinged lid?
I am finding ink "bottles" with removable lids... were these what ink may have been sold in and the ink was then poured into the inkwell of the buyer's desk set?

Yes probably more correct to say ink bottle in this case...but I'm no expert either ;)

Looks like Blenko glass to me. I think more a container than inkwell. I could be wrong though.

I was getting a Scandi vibe but that is just a guess.

Thank you pearlsnblume ! Yes, very reminiscent of the bubble stoppers from Pols Potton (if only it was one of those lol) But mine is definitely not blown.

So I'm guessing probably an inexpensive mid century homage to art glass wares of the late 60s / 70s. Unless anyone knows better I'll go with that. That's fine by me - cheap and cheerful!

It was from a house clearance sale for a 95 year old who has been in a rest home for 10 years before, so at least I'm reasonably confident it wasn't made last month ;)

Thanks for your comment :shame: Yes it could be a stoppered jar (but for what I wonder? It's so tiny!) But I think Blenko is more art glass (which this isn't) plus I live in France so it's less unlikely to be from the US than somewhere in Europe.

Nice to know about Blenko though, I've never heard of it before. Yet more education from Antiquers ! :)

Does the stopper screw into the base?

I know we have several other members from France & the surrounding countries who might have seen something similar. You may want to edit your title by adding "French?".

You can do this by clicking on "thread tools" & then on "edit title".

Thank you  I've done that now.

And the stopper doesn't screw into the base... it has some ridged rings on it though, possibly for a rubber bung that's now missing?
